Carousel (no.2) draws inspiration from the sculptural works of Isamu Noguchi and Erwin Hauer. Paper lanterns had existed long before Akari, however Noguchi brought his own language to the art form transforming lanterns into 'light sculptures'.
Erwin Hauer - known for his architectural walls and screens - deftly played with light through complex patterns and the absence of material. Carousel (no.2) continues with these traditions - adding elements of movement, interactivity, technology and expressivity.

Carousel (no.2) is another example of Jason's 'intentional objects' - by rotating the outer shade, one subtly reveals three distinct light patterns. The shade is made of traditional coldpress watercolor paper, while the base is crafted from solid maple. Warm LEDs illuminate the object and are dimmable. Carousel no.1 will be a light object you will enjoy and (re)experience for years to come.
