Carousel (Light & Shadow no.2)

Carousel (Light & Shadow no.2) is the second in the Carousel (Light & Shadow) series. This piece draws inspiration from the sculptural and architectural works of Erwin Hauer. Known for his architectural walls and screens, Hauer deftly played with light through complex patterns and the absence of material.

Carousel (Light & Shadow no.2) continues with this tradition, while adding my own  elements of movement, interactivity, technology and expressivity. Rotating the inner shade subtly changes the pattern of the piece, revealing three distinct looks. The shade is made of traditional coldpress watercolor paper, while the 3D printed base is comprised of a wood-filled PLA filament. This combination of the traditional and high tech truly makes Carousel (Light & Shadow no.2) a unique creation.
